Strategy Spends $1.2 Billion on Bitcoin, Its Biggest BTC Buy Since July
Strategy has made its largest Bitcoin purchase in over five months, acquiring about 13,600 Bitcoin (worth over $1.2 billion). The company now holds 687,400 Bitcoin, valued at more than $62.8 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,300 per Bitcoin. The purchase was mainly funded by issuing 6.8 million common shares for $1.1 billion and $119 million in STRC preferred stock. Strategy shares initially dipped to $157 but rebounded above $159. The company’s total investment in Bitcoin now totals $51.8 billion. Last week, relief followed MSCI’s decision to maintain index eligibility for crypto-exposed firms like Strategy, preventing potential outflows. However, MSCI clarified it would not automatically increase weightings for additional share issuances. Some analysts expect key performance metrics for Strategy to recover, while critics downplayed the impact of MSCI’s weighting decision on its business prospects.
