Switzerland proposes cross-country crypto data sharing
Summary
Switzerland plans to automatically share crypto-related data with 74 partner countries, including the UK and EU member states. The Federal Council adopted a bill for the automatic exchange of information (AEOI) on crypto, excluding the US, Saudi Arabia, and China. If approved by Parliament, the AEOI framework would start on January 1, 2026, with the first data exchange expected in 2027. The proposal includes reviewing partner states' compliance with AEOI standards. The Federal Council aims to amend the federal decree to include crypto assets in the existing review mechanism for financial account information.
