Thailand to block Bitget in December over unlicensed crypto trading
Summary
Thailand’s SEC filed a criminal complaint against BG Limited, operator of Bitget, alleging it provided cryptocurrency trading services without a required license from 2022 to 2025. The regulator said Bitget charged fees and promoted services to Thai users. It asked the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block the exchange’s website, related domains and app from Dec. 5, and urged users to address assets held on the platform before then. The complaint has been referred to the Economic Crime Suppression Division; prosecutors will decide whether to charge the company, and courts will determine liability. Bitget did not immediately comment.
