Toncoin bucks market slump as Telegram’s Durov addresses arrest in France
Toncoin, a digital asset linked to Telegram, increased by over 4% to $5 amid a declining market, while major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum fell by over 2%. Despite this rise, approximately 80% of Toncoin holders are at a loss, with only 9.3% in profit. Pavel Durov, Telegram's founder, addressed his recent arrest in France, expressing surprise and highlighting that Telegram has a designated EU representative for legal matters. He criticized the French authorities for their approach and stated that Telegram would consider exiting regions that oppose free speech. Following his statement, Telegram updated its FAQ to encourage users to report illegal content, indicating a shift in content moderation policies. Durov also committed to improving the platform's functionality and promised further updates on progress.
