Trump tricked into pushing XRP for crypto reserve: Report
US President Donald Trump was influenced by a lobbyist linked to Ripple Labs to announce that the XRP token would be included in a national cryptocurrency reserve. A lobbyist's employee provided Trump with a suggested social media post, which he shared on March 2. After posting, Trump discovered Ripple was a client of the lobbyist, leading to his anger and a statement that the lobbyist was no longer welcome. Ripple's chief legal officer had previously donated over $300,000 to Trump's political efforts, and Ripple contributed $5 million in XRP to his inaugural fund. Trump signed an executive order for a "Digital Asset Stockpile" on March 6, shortly after the social media announcement. XRP's price remained stable, showing a slight increase around the time of the report.
