Ubisoft, Arbitrum to launch ‘Captain Laserhawk’ Web3 shooter Dec. 18
The Arbitrum Foundation and Ubisoft will launch “Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.” on December 18, featuring characters from various Ubisoft titles. The game combines top-down shooter mechanics with competitive leaderboards and Web3 features, serving as a spinoff of the Netflix show “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.” It will launch on the Ethereum layer-2 Arbitrum network, with an NFT mint starting on December 11 via Magic Eden, offering utilities like governance votes and exclusive collectibles. Nina Rong from Arbitrum Foundation emphasized the significance of this launch for game development and player experience. The Web3 gaming sector is experiencing growth, with NFT sales increasing and a $150 million fund being established to promote Web3 gaming in Abu Dhabi. Despite challenges since the 2021 NFT boom, indicators for blockchain gaming remain positive as 2025 approaches.
