UK-listed IG rolls out crypto trading to retail investors
IG Group is launching cryptocurrency trading for retail investors, allowing access to 31 crypto assets, including Bitcoin, Ether, and various altcoins. This marks IG's direct entry into spot crypto trading, having previously offered exposure through contracts for difference. The initiative is supported by a partnership with Uphold, which will manage customer transactions and pricing data, fully integrated into IG's platform and app. This move aligns with the growing crypto adoption in the UK, coinciding with regulatory developments aimed at establishing industry standards. The UK Financial Conduct Authority has initiated a public consultation on new rules for stablecoin issuers and crypto custody providers, following earlier draft regulations to protect investors from risks and scams.
