US Military Leadership Supports BTC Reserve: Sen. Lummis
US Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that some divisions within the American military support the establishment of a national Bitcoin reserve to counter economic threats, particularly from China. During a Bloomberg interview, Lummis highlighted that US generals in Southeast Asia advocate for a strategic Bitcoin stockpile as part of preparing for potential conflicts. She emphasized the need for both economic and military readiness. Tensions between the US and China have been exacerbated by trade wars initiated during the Trump administration, which initially imposed tariffs on various trading partners but later focused primarily on China. Trump has expressed intentions to make the US the "world capital of crypto," warning that failure to do so could allow China to take the lead. Meanwhile, China has banned crypto activities since 2021 but continues to develop blockchain technology for its digital yuan. US Vice President JD Vance also underscored the geopolitical significance of Bitcoin, stressing the importance of US leadership in the crypto sector.
