Vienna-based Startup Launches AI Pipeline Builder for Gaming Studios
Atlas, a Vienna-based startup, has launched Atlas AI Studio, a tool designed to automate aspects of game development using multiple AI agents. Atlas AI Studio handles tasks such as asset generation, texturing, optimization, and integration into game engines, enabling artists to assign tasks through natural language prompts. The system selects and coordinates the necessary AI models to build requested assets. Previously in closed beta with studios like Square Enix and Ego, the tool is now globally available via Google Cloud Marketplace. This launch reflects a broader trend of increased AI adoption in game development, despite ongoing resistance from players and creatives concerned with visible AI-generated content and copyright issues. Atlas CEO Ben James claims AI’s value is underestimated, particularly for automating repetitive or technical tasks such as generating different levels of detail or optimizing materials, rather than replacing creative work. He asserts that responsibility for proper use and avoiding copyright infringement remains with developers.
