Visa Becomes First Major Payments Company to Join Canton Network as Super Validator

Summary

Visa will join the Canton Network as its first major global payments company Super Validator, extending privacy-preserving blockchain infrastructure to financial institutions worldwide. As one of 40 Super Validators, Visa will apply its trusted operational standards, gain voting power over network decisions, and help institutions scale stablecoin payments and treasury services without altering existing risk and compliance protocols. Visa’s involvement aims to address banks’ privacy concerns, allowing blockchains to be adopted without compromising sensitive information. This move supports Visa’s growing digital asset initiatives, including stablecoin settlements and card programs in over 50 countries. Other major financial players, such as Franklin Templeton, JPMorgan, and the Depository Trust & Clearing Company, are also expanding activities on the Canton Network. Since its November launch, Canton’s CC token has become a top-25 cryptocurrency, with a market cap above $5.5 billion and recent price gains.
