F1 Champion McLaren Racing Joins Hedera Council to Help Govern Network
McLaren Racing has joined the Hedera Council, gaining equal voting rights in overseeing the Hedera blockchain network. The racing team will contribute to Hedera’s governance and software, aiming to enhance fan engagement through blockchain technology. McLaren is already issuing digital collectibles on Hedera, tied to specific Grand Prix events, utilizing both native Hedera wallets and Web2 social sign-on options to attract both motorsport and blockchain newcomers. McLaren executives will also participate in HederaCon during the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. The Hedera Council consists of 39 members from diverse sectors, each with equal voting power, and recently added FedEx alongside existing members such as Google, IBM, and Ubisoft. Hedera’s HBAR token has seen a 2% daily increase but is still 83% below its 2021 peak.
