Vitalik Buterin proposes partially stateless nodes for Ethereum scaling
Vitalik Buterin proposed a solution to maintain trustless, censorship-resistant access to Ethereum as the network scales. He emphasized the importance of independent users running local nodes, warning that reliance on a few Remote Procedure Call (RPC) providers could lead to censorship. Buterin highlighted risks associated with RPC providers, which often exclude entire countries. To address these issues, he introduced "partially stateless nodes," which allow users to verify blockchain data while only storing a subset of the Ethereum state based on individual needs. These nodes validate blocks without requiring full Merkle proofs or complete blockchain history, enabling users to save data relevant to their accounts and commonly used tokens while routing other queries through RPC solutions.
