Vitalik Buterin Wants Ethereum to Hit 100K Transaction Per Second With Rollups
Ethereum aims to achieve 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) through a rollup-centric roadmap as part of the Dencun upgrade, according to co-founder Vitalik Buterin. This strategy involves Layer 2 scaling solutions, advanced data availability sampling, and data compression techniques. The roadmap delineates roles where Ethereum's Layer 1 serves as a decentralized base layer, while Layer 2 solutions facilitate scaling. Buterin cautions against simply increasing Ethereum’s gas limit, as it would lead to centralization by excluding smaller nodes. He proposes exploring cost-optimized gas fees and an efficient bytecode format called EOF (Ethereum Object Format). Buterin emphasizes the need for improved interoperability among Layer 2s to create a cohesive Ethereum ecosystem, suggesting standardized chain identifiers and enhanced cross-L2 standards to simplify multi-chain interactions.
