Why Solana Mobile Is Launching a Token Alongside Its New Android Phone
The Solana Seeker mobile phone will start shipping globally on August 4, featuring a native ecosystem token, SKR. This Android-based device retains the Solana Saga’s genesis token and hardware seed vault while introducing SeekerID, the SeedVault Wallet, and an enhanced Solana Dapp Store. The SKR token aims to support a decentralized mobile platform and will be distributed to builders and users for ecosystem participation. Solana Mobile plans to expand its ecosystem to include more devices from various manufacturers, promoting a decentralized architecture. The new TEEPIN model allows secure participation without centralized authority, enhancing trust and security. The Seeker is available for pre-order at $500, with over 150,000 pre-orders already received.
