Wintermute to bring liquidity to booming prediction markets sector
Wintermute, a crypto liquidity provider and trading firm, is expanding into prediction markets by supplying two-sided liquidity on event contracts across leading venues. It says prediction markets now look like a major asset class in demand but still have early-stage liquidity, so sustained bid and offer depth is needed to narrow spreads, allow larger trades, and make market-implied probabilities more reliable. Wintermute plans to post continuous prices and sees the sector shifting from a niche forecasting tool toward a broader market for trading event risk. The firm also noted that prediction markets fit its existing crypto infrastructure, which spans spot, derivatives, DeFi, and OTC trading, and could link with DeFi through collateral reuse, yield strategies, and oracle inputs.
