ZachXBT Names French Bank Crédit Mutuel Arkéa as Alleged Victim of $133M Crypto Theft
Onchain investigator ZachXBT alleged that French banking group Crédit Mutuel Arkéa lost more than $133 million in a multi-day crypto theft. He said the attacker withdrew USDC and USDT from exchange accounts, then moved funds through swaps, instant exchanges, Monero and cross-chain bridges. ZachXBT linked four Ethereum addresses to the suspected theft and said some withdrawals occurred after his initial disclosure. He criticized the bank for allegedly failing to disclose the incident promptly, which he said may have prevented authorities from freezing about $30 million. Arkéa has not confirmed a theft, and the attacker and method of access remain unknown. ZachXBT said the available laundering indicators point away from North Korea’s Lazarus Group.
