Crypto airdrops provided users with over $19 billion in 2024 at peak prices, but the 2025 cycle saw fewer major drops and smaller gains, despite record highs for Bitcoin and Ethereum. The top five airdrops in 2025 still distributed about $4.5 billion in tokens at peak value. Key airdrops included Story Protocol’s IP token, which allocated 10%—100 million tokens—worth $1.4 billion at its peak but dropped 89% in value by December. Berachain provided 79 million BERA tokens, peaking at $1.17 billion but falling 96% by year-end. Jupiter's Solana-based airdrop gave out 700 million JUP tokens worth $791 million at its peak, about a third of its 2024 drop. Animecoin distributed 3.95 billion tokens valued at $711 million at peak, now down 97%. Linea’s airdrop rewarded early adopters with 9.36 billion tokens, peaking at $437 million before falling 85%. Kaito dropped 120 million KAITO tokens peaking at $345 million, now down 81%. Monad and Meteora also launched airdrops, with respective peaks of $162 million and $103 million. Most airdrop tokens rapidly lost value post-distribution.
