Sui Back Online After 'Network Stall' Leads to Six Hours of Downtime
The Sui blockchain experienced a nearly six-hour outage during which no new blocks were produced due to a network stall. The Sui Core team implemented a fix and, as of 4:30 p.m. ET, the network was fully restored with normal transaction flow. This incident marks Sui’s second major outage, the first occurring in November 2024 when all validators crashed and halted transactions. Mysten Labs, which developed Sui and launched it in May 2023, is led by former Meta Novi executives. The outage had minimal effect on the SUI token price, which remained stable and even saw slight gains. Sui distinguishes itself by enabling parallel transaction processing and horizontal scaling. As of now, the network manages over $1 billion in assets, though this is a decrease from the $2.6 billion held in October. The Sui Foundation will release a full incident report in the coming days.
