A 2011 physical Bitcoin loaded with 25 BTC was just unlocked during the $62k selloff
A dormant Casascius physical Bitcoin tied to 25 BTC became active this week and was redeemed into normal on-chain custody. Galaxy Research identified it as an S1-COIN-25 piece, originally funded with 25 BTC in block 156,413 on Dec. 7, 2011. On June 3, the old address spent 25.00002187 BTC and returned most of it to itself after fees and dust handling. On June 4, it sent 24.98996629 BTC to a SegWit address, leaving the original address empty. The move confirms the private key was used and the collectible’s value shifted from a loaded physical coin into liquid BTC, but it does not prove a sale. No exchange deposit or custodian routing is visible yet. The event matters because it happened during a broader Bitcoin selloff, when old-coin movement can look like supply pressure. For now, the strongest verified signal is custody transition, not market disposal.
