A new bitcoin lending system is set to debut with $500 million in commitments
Summary
Sui plans to launch Hashi in phases later this month, enabling Bitcoin holders to use BTC as lending collateral without transferring it off the Bitcoin blockchain. The network has secured $500 million in capital commitments from more than 20 partners, though the funds are not immediate deposits. Users’ BTC will be locked in a Bitcoin multisig vault, while corresponding hBTC tokens on Sui support lending and other financial applications. Burning hBTC initiates the release of the original BTC. Hashi targets institutional holders and has undergone smart-contract verification and an MPC cryptography review.
