Alexander Ray, our partner within the CTDG initiative and a Web3 entrepreneur, co-founder of Albus Protocol and JPool, has passed away
Alexander Ray was a key figure in the Web3 space, recognized for his work on validator infrastructure and staking systems within the Solana ecosystem, and for his leadership in regulated decentralized finance (DeFi). With a background in enterprise software and financial systems at companies like Deutsche Bank and GE, Ray approached blockchain as foundational financial infrastructure. He founded PointGroup, a venture builder that launched significant projects such as JPool—a major liquid staking pool on Solana, Albus Protocol—a privacy-preserving compliance layer for on-chain regulated finance, and Alula—a Stellar-based lending protocol. JPool helped innovate Solana staking by enabling liquid stake management across over 170 validators, with more than 1.3 million SOL staked. As CEO of Albus Protocol, Ray developed on-chain compliance tools for tokenized assets and institutional DeFi, balancing regulatory needs with blockchain privacy. Beyond building technology, Ray contributed to industry dialogues on regulation and tokenization and was active in thought leadership roles. He is remembered for prioritizing robust, compliant, and sustainable financial systems over hype, leaving a lasting legacy across Web3 protocol infrastructure.
