ARK partners with Securitize to put a venture fund on Ethereum, but leaves exit doors locked
Summary
ARK Invest and Securitize are offering eligible investors tokenized interests in the ARK Venture Fund on Ethereum. Securitize will handle issuance and investor services, but the fund’s shares remain unlisted and no secondary market is expected initially. Investors therefore rely mainly on quarterly repurchase offers, which buy back up to 5% of outstanding shares at net asset value and are shared across the entire fund. An SEC order permits a tokenized share class to trade on alternative trading systems or other venues, but any such trading depends on approved-wallet controls and the emergence of buyers. It is unclear whether investors acquiring tokenized interests after the Sept. 24 launch can join the Sept. 30 repurchase window.
