Binance gives 48-hour withdrawal target while Bitcoin deposits remain open
Binance’s global platform continued to accept deposits while suspending crypto withdrawals after a security incident estimated to have affected about $6 billion. The exchange expected withdrawals to resume within 48 hours, but this was a target, not a confirmed reopening time. Binance Japan reported different service conditions: crypto deposits and trading were operating normally, while withdrawals remained paused. The restrictions limit transfers to personal wallets and other exchanges, and prevent arbitrage routes that require withdrawing from Binance. Binance said about $3 billion in affected assets had been frozen on-chain and pledged to cover losses with SAFU and company funds, then publish updated proof of reserves. Frozen assets are not confirmed recoveries or proof of withdrawal liquidity.
