Bitcoin (BTC) Jumps To $82,000 As Trump Announces 90-Day Pause On Tariffs Except China
US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for 75 nations, excluding China, which will see tariffs raised to 125% due to perceived disrespect towards global markets. This decision follows China's reciprocal 84% tariff on US goods starting April 10. Trump authorized a reduced reciprocal tariff of 10% during the pause and encouraged buying during this period. Following the announcement, stock prices surged, with the S&P 500 increasing by approximately 6%. The crypto market also experienced a boost, with Bitcoin rising 6.1% to near $83,000, recovering from a recent five-month low. Other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, XRP, and Solana saw gains of 6%-12%. Bitcoin's surge led to $75 million in short liquidations within an hour. As of the latest update, Bitcoin trades at $82,444, reflecting a 4.1% decline over the week.
