Bitcoin drops under $83K as liquidity hunting keeps bulls from targeting yearly open
Bitcoin fell to weekly lows after losing upside momentum and triggering nearby liquidity on exchange order books. BTC/USD dropped below $82,700, its lowest since Sept. 21, after failing to extend above last week’s eight-month highs near $87,000. A large sell-wall of more than $30 million appeared around $85,700, which helped cap the rally and coincided with what looked like liquidity hunting. The move liquidated about $70 million in long positions over 24 hours. Broader risk-off pressure also weighed on crypto, with US stock futures falling after Donald Trump declined to rule out further strikes on Iran. Nasdaq futures dropped and WTI crude rose above $95 a barrel. For bulls, the next major hurdle remains the yearly open near $88,700, while hesitation below that level raises the risk of BTC slipping back into the $60,000–$80,000 range.
