Bitcoin ETFs log inflows as cold wallet hack reignites custody debate

Summary

US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs drew fresh inflows as a major Coldcard security incident renewed attention on crypto custody risks. Spot Bitcoin funds took in $211.5 million on Tuesday after $170 million on Monday. BlackRock’s IBIT led with $111 million Monday and $170 million Tuesday, while Fidelity’s FBTC added about $33 million and $20 million. Invesco Galaxy’s BTCO posted its first positive flow since July 1. Galaxy Research said the Coldcard hack may have affected up to 7,300 addresses and caused about $130 million in suspected Bitcoin losses. The incident revived debate over whether regulated ETF custody could look safer than self-custody, with some analysts arguing the hack may push more investors toward ETFs. Bitcoin stayed relatively stable near $64,113, down about 0.8% over the week, despite the custody concerns and other selling pressure.
