Bitcoin ETFs notch best month of 2026 as BTC gains 25% in August

US spot Bitcoin ETFs had their strongest month of 2026 in August, pulling in $3.52 billion in net inflows, up sharply from $172 million in July. Bitcoin rose about 25% that month, its best monthly gain since November 2024. The inflows reduced 2026 year-to-date ETF outflows by about 66%, to $1.77 billion, and lifted total ETF assets to $99.61 billion from $76.29 billion in July. Trading volume also rose nearly 49% to $58.63 billion. Momentum faded in early September: Bitcoin ETFs recorded $236.46 million in outflows on Tuesday after Monday inflows, while Bitcoin briefly dropped below $77,000. In contrast, spot Ether ETFs stayed positive with about $11 million in inflows, and spot XRP ETFs drew $14.4 million. Ether ETFs turned positive for the year, and XRP ETF inflows also increased.
