Bitcoiners blast Arizona governor’s ‘ignorance’ after Bitcoin bill veto
Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed the Arizona Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Act, which would have allowed the state to hold Bitcoin as part of its official reserves. Critics, including Bitcoin entrepreneurs and lawmakers, expressed disappointment, arguing that Arizona needs Bitcoin more than Bitcoin needs Arizona. Casa co-founder Jameson Lopp and entrepreneur Anthony Pompliano criticized the decision, calling for officials who understand Bitcoin's potential. Wendy Rogers, a co-sponsor of the bill, plans to refile it in the next session, highlighting that Arizona's retirement system already invests in stocks related to Bitcoin. Crypto skeptic Peter Schiff supported Hobbs, arguing against using public funds for cryptocurrency speculation. Arizona would have been the first US state to establish a Bitcoin reserve if the bill had passed. Similar proposals in other states have also failed recently.
