BlackRock, Goldman, and JP Morgan Will Give Tokenized Stocks a Try

Summary

DTCC launched a pilot with nearly 40 financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Vanguard, and the New York Stock Exchange, to test tokenized stocks, ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries. The goal is to show that blockchain-based assets can work within existing market infrastructure for uses such as collateral management, repo trades, margin, and asset transfers, with a broader rollout targeted for October. DTCC, the main clearinghouse for U.S. securities transactions, processes trillions of dollars in activity and sees the pilot as a way to prove tokenization’s value and bridge old and new systems. Interest in tokenized real-world assets has risen sharply across traditional finance, with major firms expanding blockchain efforts.
