BNY Mellon unit joins MiCA register as ESMA adds 15 providers
European authorities added 15 crypto companies to the MiCA register in the latest ESMA update, bringing the interim list to 309 licensed crypto-asset service providers. The new entries include four banking institutions, among them BNY SA/NV, BNY Mellon’s Belgian unit, plus three German banks, alongside platforms such as BitPay, Coinify and Bleap. Germany and Denmark led the additions with three new providers each, followed by Bulgaria and Latvia with two each. The update shows MiCA’s rollout is still expanding after the July 1 transitional deadline, as firms continue obtaining authorization under the EU’s first unified crypto rules. No changes were made to the related registers for token issuers or non-compliant entities. Some industry voices warn that MiCA compliance costs may be difficult for smaller firms to sustain.
