Brave Bets on Social Heist Puzzles to Pull Players Into Its Gaming Push

Summary

Brave has launched Brave Games, a multi-week, social-media-driven “vault heist competition” designed to make Web3 gaming accessible to non-technical users. Free to join, it unfolds across the Brave browser, Fanon’s gaming platform, X, and Discord, and encourages players to join factions, complete missions, solve puzzles, and compete for prizes. Over 4,000 players have pre-registered. The event, running from February 3–27, is aimed at testing whether participatory game mechanics can onboard new users to Web3, using elements like encrypted clues and alliances. Brave Games evolved from Brave’s Rewards 3.0 Partner Program, which explores new applications for Brave’s Basic Attention Token (BAT). If successful, Brave plans to offer the format as a recurring opportunity for brands and partners alongside its ads and rewards programs. Despite market challenges and waning interest in play-to-earn gaming, Brave believes removing technical barriers and providing culturally relevant experiences can drive broader Web3 adoption. The Web3 gaming market, valued at $37.5 billion in 2025, is projected to grow significantly over the next decade.
