Citi and SDX partner to tokenize traditional private markets
Citi and SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) are collaborating to modernize private markets through asset tokenization, announced at the Point Zero Forum in Switzerland. The blockchain-based Central Securities Depositary (CSD) platform will go live by Q3 2025, enabling global access to late-stage, pre-IPO equities for institutional investors. The initiative provides issuers with a compliant framework for liquidity management while offering investors efficient access to high-growth companies. Citi will serve as the digital custodian and tokenization agent, responding to client demand for digital asset ecosystems. This partnership aligns with a growing interest in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, evidenced by recent initiatives from major firms like BlackRock and MultiBank Group. The landscape is evolving as regulations clarify and technology advances, prompting significant players to engage in tokenization efforts.
