Coinbase Expands Crypto Payments In Poland With Blik System
Coinbase is expanding its payment options in Poland by integrating with Blik, a popular Polish mobile payment system used by nearly 20 million people, through a partnership with European payment processor PPro. This move aims to make crypto transactions easier and faster for Polish users, supporting broader crypto adoption in the country. Despite growing crypto use, Poland remains the only EU country without a legal framework to enforce the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), even though Coinbase obtained its MiCA license in June 2024. The Polish government recently reintroduced a strict crypto bill, which was previously vetoed by the president. Experts note that Poland’s slow legislation does not necessarily signal hostility toward crypto, as other EU states implement MiCA through varying methods. Coinbase and PPro expect their partnership to strengthen and expand with more local payment options by 2026.
