Coinbase Launches Spot Trading of Bitcoin and Ether Outside the U.S.

Summary

Crypto exchange Coinbase is expanding its global operations by allowing international institutional investors to spot trade bitcoin and ether against its USDC stablecoin, as per a company blog post. The service will later be extended to retail investors and additional cryptocurrencies. Introduced in May, Coinbase's international exchange was initially only a derivatives platform. The decision to broaden its services comes amid enhanced scrutiny of crypto firms by U.S. regulators, including allegations against Coinbase of violating federal securities laws.
