Patrick Witt defers military training as CLARITY heads to Senate
Patrick Witt, the White House’s top crypto adviser and lead negotiator on the CLARITY Act, will stay in his post instead of leaving for Georgia Army National Guard training at the end of the month. He said the training was deferred, allowing him to remain at the White House as the Senate prepares to take up the bill before its Aug. 8 recess deadline. The CLARITY Act would establish the first comprehensive U.S. regulatory framework for crypto. Witt had been expected to begin JAG training on July 27 and had already delayed it once earlier this year to continue work on the legislation. At the same time, Harry Jung, deputy director of the President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, announced he will leave government service in two weeks after helping shape recent crypto policy efforts.
