Crypto Billionaires Hand Reform UK $97M in Record Donations
Two crypto billionaires gave Reform UK £72 million in two days, the largest influx ever seen by a British party and more than all UK parties raised last year combined. BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo pledged £36 million, saying he will give the equivalent of £1 million a month until the next election but is paying upfront in case donation rules tighten. Christopher Harborne, a Thailand-based Tether investor, matched that amount after previously giving Reform £15 million. Reform says the money will fund policy staff and 400 campaign managers as it prepares for the next election. The donations were not made in crypto, which Britain banned for political gifts in March. The funding surge comes as Reform faces scrutiny over its finances and an active police investigation into alleged attempts to circumvent foreign-donations rules.
