Crypto card access doesn’t match global demand, Tangem says

Summary

Tangem has launched its first physical Visa crypto payment card, with an initial supply of 5,000 for in-store and online purchases and ATM withdrawals. Users can fund it from their self-custodial wallet and return funds there if the card is suspended or closed. Tangem says more than 40% of its payments come from Latin America and over 30% from the US, but it cannot ship physical cards to about 20 countries because of KYC, sanctions, banking and card-issuance requirements. Eligible purchases earn 1% cashback in USDC for Basic users and 2% for Plus users.
