Crypto Wallet Maker Ledger Confirms Data Breach on Global-e Platform
Ledger confirmed a data breach at its e-commerce partner Global-e but emphasized its hardware and software crypto wallets remain secure. The breach involved unauthorized access to Global-e order data for some customers who purchased on Ledger.com, but did not include payment information or sensitive wallet data such as security phrases or crypto balances. Ledger’s products are self-custodial, meaning Global-e cannot access digital asset information. Ledger has engaged independent forensic experts to investigate the incident. The company, based in Paris, has sold over 7.5 million wallets and secures roughly 20% of global crypto assets. This is the latest third-party security issue linked to Ledger, following a December 2023 incident involving malicious code in the Ledger Connect Kit due to a phishing attack on a former employee.
