Huione, a major darknet marketplace, continues to operate and grow despite the shutdown of its website and Telegram channels. Following the announcement of its closure on May 13, activity linked to Huione has not declined, with billions of dollars in transactions still being processed. The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) proposed barring Huione from the US banking system due to allegations of aiding North Korea's Lazarus Group in laundering cryptocurrency. Despite losing access to US dollars, transaction volumes reportedly increased. Huione has received over $81 billion in crypto since 2021, surpassing the Hydra marketplace, and remains a key player in various cyber crimes. Its cryptocurrency exchange has resumed operations under a new domain, retaining its old branding. Chainalysis emphasizes the need for law enforcement to adopt more sophisticated strategies to combat organized crime networks like Huione.
