Ethereum NFT Horse Racing Game 'Zed Run' Reborn on Base as 'Zed Champions'
Virtually Human Studios is launching Zed Champions, a reimagined version of its digital horse racing game, on the Base Ethereum layer-2 network. The public launch is scheduled for Monday at 8pm ET. Unlike the original Zed Run, Zed Champions features automatic racing with dynamic matchmaking based on skill levels, eliminating manual race entries. The game emphasizes the Ethereum-based ZED token for entering races, breeding horses, and purchasing power-ups. Each horse has an internal ZED token balance that fluctuates with race performance, influencing strategic decisions about retirement and cashing out tokens. The original Zed Run was shut down on February 28 due to declining interest, with trading volume dropping significantly. Previous Zed Run players received rewards for transitioning to Zed Champions, which does not carry over any NFTs from the original game. The new version aims to create a sustainable model for long-term success.
