Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade launches on Sepolia testnet
Summary
Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade has launched on the Sepolia testnet, a major rehearsal before further testing on Hoodi and a later mainnet activation. The upgrade is intended to improve layer-1 scalability and efficiency through enshrined proposer-builder separation (EIP-7732), block-level access lists (EIP-7928), and revised gas pricing. These changes are designed to support parallel transaction processing and faster validation. The Ethereum Foundation has set a 200 million gas-limit floor for Glamsterdam, compared with the current limit of about 60 million. Developers will set the Hoodi test date and then determine the mainnet schedule; work on the subsequent Hegotá upgrade is also underway.
