Final Bitcoin ETF Application Filings Get Posted by Major U.S. Exchanges

Summary

U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are expected to launch soon as exchanges that will list them have filed amended documents, indicating anticipated approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The amended 19b-4 filings were filed on behalf of BlackRock, Grayscale, Fidelity, and other issuers, following last month's amended S-1 filings. More than a dozen applicants aim to launch the first spot bitcoin ETFs in the U.S., with multiple issuers likely to be approved simultaneously. A final deadline for SEC action for at least one application is January 10. The SEC needs to approve both the 19b-4 filings and the S-1 filings before the ETFs can launch.
