Firedancer makes bounty hunters burn 1 SOL even for duplicate bug reports

Summary

Jump Crypto’s Firedancer bug bounty now requires researchers to irreversibly burn 1 SOL per report. The burn is non-refundable even for valid duplicate or out-of-scope submissions, and reports without it cannot earn rewards. Later reports may still qualify if they show greater impact, correct flaws in an earlier report, or are otherwise judged valuable. The change follows a spring contest that received 809 submissions from 162 researchers; nearly half of valid submissions were duplicates, and the backlog peaked at 299 open reports. Jump researcher Ishan Bhatt says slow triage helped sustain duplicate filings. Firedancer is temporarily doubling standard rewards and tripling rewards for Alpenglow consensus findings through Nov. 20, 2026. The terms promise initial contact within 96 hours, but set no deadline for validation or fixes.
