Circle’s new USDC auctions let institutions collect the fees others pay to cash out
Summary
Circle launched Circle Match, an hourly auction service for eligible institutional Mint customers that matches USDC redemptions with dollar-to-USDC minting orders. Redeemers set a maximum fee, while minters set a minimum rebate; matched orders clear at one uniform fee, which Circle says is paid in spendable USDC to minters. Matching and rebates are not guaranteed, and fees cannot exceed the redeemer’s stated cap or Circle Express’s rate. Both sides must prefund orders, with mint-side funds restricted to the service; unmatched orders follow customers’ chosen settings. Circle says matched settlement is atomic and as fast as Express, though dollar payouts remain subject to U.S. banking hours.
