Former Pump.fun Dev Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for $2 Million Solana Fraud
Jarett Dunn, a Canadian and former Pump.fun developer, was sentenced in London to six years in prison for fraud by abuse of position and transfer of criminal property after stealing approximately $2 million in Solana (SOL) from Pump.fun in 2024. Dunn distributed the stolen funds to thousands of random crypto wallets, subsequently admitting the theft on social media and gaining attention as a "crypto Robin Hood." His guilty plea, attempts to frame his actions as whistleblowing, and public confessions on social media all factored into the prosecution, with the court unsympathetic to his whistleblower claims. He has already spent months in remand and under electronic tag, time which will partially count toward his sentence. Dunn struggled with mental health issues and legal representation throughout the proceedings, at one point trying to withdraw his guilty plea, leading to further delays. After breaching bail and awaiting sentencing in jail, Dunn received two concurrent six-year sentences. He remains in custody in London, with no immediate plans for deportation to Canada.
