FTX exec’s wife scheduled for November trial on campaign finance charges
Michelle Bond, wife of former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame, is set for trial on Nov. 9 in the Southern District of New York on four campaign finance charges. The judge recently rejected her bid to dismiss the indictment, which argued prosecutors had promised Salame she would not be charged if he pleaded guilty. Prosecutors allege Bond and Salame illegally funded her 2022 US House campaign, including a $400,000 “sham” payment using FTX funds. Bond’s case is one of the last criminal matters tied to FTX’s 2022 collapse. Salame is serving a 7.5-year sentence after pleading guilty to unlawful political contributions. Sam Bankman-Fried is also serving a 25-year sentence, and his appeal was recently denied, leaving only a possible Supreme Court review or presidential pardon.
