Germany widens MiCA lead as latest EU register update adds 6 banks

Summary

Germany extended its lead in MiCA crypto licensing as ESMA’s latest register update added six German cooperative banks as authorized crypto asset service providers. The total number of CASPs across the EU rose to 331. Germany now has 79 licensed providers, ahead of France with 35 and the Netherlands with 29, up from 57 in late June. The new German additions are Raiffeisenbank Aidlingen, Ihre Volksbank, VR-Bank Mittelfranken Mitte, Volksbank Euskirchen, VR Bank Ried-Überwald and Volksbank Backnang. Germany’s strong showing reflects its large financial sector and earlier national licensing framework, which helped some firms transition more easily into MiCA authorization. ESMA’s ART and EMT registers were unchanged, and the non-compliant entity list also stayed the same.
