IBM opens beta Swift ledger link for 24/7 tokenized deposits

Summary

IBM added beta support for connectivity to Swift’s blockchain ledger for tokenized deposits, along with a beta on-premises deployment option for banks using its Digital Asset Haven platform. The new messaging adapter lets financial institutions instruct tokenized deposit transactions through ISO 20022, so they can reuse existing payment formats and compliance processes instead of building blockchain-specific workflows. Banks in Swift’s program have already tested tokenized deposits through IBM’s platform. The on-premises option lets regulated institutions run Digital Asset Haven in their own data centers on IBM Z and LinuxONE, without public cloud dependence, keeping digital asset operations and key management in-house. IBM said the update reflects a shift toward traditional and tokenized assets moving side by side. Swift’s ledger was developed with more than 40 financial institutions and has already been used for live cross-border transactions.
