If you use a Cypher or Osmosis card, your spending dies tonight and unbacked wallets could go with it
Cypher’s shutdown, after Nium’s acquisition, ends card purchases at 00:00 UTC on Aug. 8, making Aug. 7 the last spending day. Users then have until Sept. 6 to withdraw card balances, claim rewards, and keep wallet access before the app, dApp, and business platform go offline. Cypher’s notices conflict on whether deactivation is Aug. 7 or Sept. 6, but the earlier spending cutoff should be treated as the operative deadline. The wind-down covers physical, virtual, and business Cypher Cards, including Osmosis Pay cardholders. Personal users can withdraw card balances in-app through Cards > Options > Withdraw Card Balance; withdrawals settle in USDC on Base and may take 24–48 hours. Business balances must be withdrawn through the business platform before closure. Users must claim CYPR rewards, unlocked CYPR, and other incentives before Sept. 6. Self-custody wallet assets remain under user control, but recovery data should be backed up or exported before the app disappears. Stablecoins may still be withdrawable through Sept. 6.
