Irish authorities seize another 500 Bitcoin, bringing 2026 total to 1,500 BTC
Ireland’s Criminal Assets Bureau said it seized another 500 Bitcoin, worth about €27 million ($30.9 million), with help from Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre. That raises CAB’s total Bitcoin seizures in 2026 to 1,500 BTC, worth about $92.4 million. Europol provided operational coordination, technical expertise, and decryption support. CAB gave no details on the wallet owner or the underlying case. The seizure follows an earlier recovery of 500 BTC from a wallet Irish media linked to convicted drug dealer Clifton Collins. Reports said Collins had once controlled about 6,000 BTC across 12 wallets, with private keys reportedly lost on a sheet of paper. After the latest seizure was disclosed, a Collins-linked wallet moved 500 BTC to another address, while wallets associated with him still held about 4,500 BTC, worth roughly $277 million.
